NEW IN STORES
I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern, very now - no one wears.

Salone del Mobile, Milano is known as the main showcasing site of design and furniture from the world’s leading brands and designers. The six days event is also notoriously known as the monitor for the newest trends of design and furniture. Here designers take the opportunity to showcase their new collections, new products or even to try out innovative ideas and prototypes.  Indeed, one of the main purposes of visiting the biggest interior design fair, is to track and be aware of what’s coming in the interiors sector.

When visiting this year’s fair, it is clear, that some brands and designers pursued some design lines that may indicate the beginning of latest trends. Following, we present three of the most eye-catching tendencies spotted on the fair.

SUNSET COLOURS

Orange and sunset colours were one of the main attractions to be present on many of the stands from different designers and brands. Fruity shades such as apricot or tangerine took over whole room schemes from walls, furniture as well as matching carpets.

Mapswonders Ebro Table Lamp and Patra Ottoman follow the warm colors trends through the fabrics chosen for the ottoman and the abatjour of the lamp that can reflect and intensify the colors of the room. These two pieces can be ideal for the orange kind of ambiance:

MAXI PATTERNS

Bold and grand size pieces and patterns were also a tendency with great presence at this year Salone del Mobile, Milano. Not being afraid to mix and match strong patterns is the way to go. Kartell, Seletti and Missoni Home showed us how to do it in complexes yet, appealing to the eye ambiances. Regardless of the bold pieces with bright colours used, we are automatically drawn to the life present in these sets.

GEOMETRIC AND ARCHES

A third tendency we were able to identify at Salone del Mobile, Milano 2018 is the enormous presence in geometric pieces. Whether they are present on simple decorative elements, such as mirrors or on bold pieces such as dividers, geometric shapes are the primary choice of designers in an attempt to create simple, yet visually interesting ambiances. Arches shapes were also one of the mainly chosen shapes by brands and designers.
