Alberto Pinto was born in Casablanca in 1943 to Argentine parents of Sephardic Jewish descent. His love of art, beauty and decorative arts let him to study art history and world cultures as a young men at the École du Louvre in Paris. After studying at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, he moved to New York and launched a photographic agency specialising in art and design. He started the interior decoration career in the late 1960s and opening his own Paris firm in 1968. Since his death in 2012 due the to a pulmonary illness, the cabinet is under Linda Pinto’s management.
Today it employs 80 people appropriating the eclectic tastes of its international clients by adjusting the décors to suit each one, and all the while adding an elegance which creates a balance within such opulence. The agency lets traditional and modern meet in harmony, and adapts as much to intimate rooms as to larger spaces, whether the projects be public or private. The collection of tableware, silverware, European and Asian porcelain, and linen, of which Pinto was undoubtedly one of the greatest collectors, was offered at Christie’s Paris from 12-14 September, 2017.
